Some people seem to be born with the ability of being well-organized and productive, while others seem to be better at procrastinating. The lack of productivity in some has nothing to do with intelligence, wealth, education or how you grew up. It has to do with having a plan, making goals and making it a daily habit of being diligent.

The following are tips to help you be more productive even when you don’t feel like it...

How To Stay Productive When You Don’t Feel Like it
  1. Set goals. Having a goal to strive for can help you remain focused as well as keep you motivated. Without having goals, people tend to not stick with one certain project until they are finished. They may jump from one project to the next without really finishing anything.
  2. Get organized. Write down a list of tasks to help accomplish a goal. If it will take more than one day to achieve, then make a list of the things you need to do each day in order to accomplish it. Writing down tasks for each day can help you stay focused on what you need to get done and can help you remain productive. Be careful not to fill your day with too many tasks, however, as you may feel overwhelmed and not stick with it.
  3. Prioritize your list. Make a list of the tasks you need to complete first in order to reach your goal. You may even want to include a reward as you accomplish some of your tasks. Periodically give yourself a break as you go through your list. Taking breaks and staying energized can help you stay focused.
  4. Remain flexible. As you go through your list, be prepared to re-prioritize or even delay some things for later. Although you want to remain diligent and focused on your plan, you should always be prepared for problems or issues that may come up. You will want to include extra time in your schedule as you complete each thing, so that you don’t get stressed out with any unexpected things that may occur.
  5. Delegate tasks. Don’t be afraid to ask for help as you go through what you want to accomplish. Working together with someone can even make things more fun and rewarding as you reach the end result.
  6. Make a commitment and stick to it. Decide each day what goals you want to reach and what tasks you will complete. Do your best to stick to the plan. If it helps, you can choose someone to hold you accountable and let them know how you are doing each day.
